5. Elliott Smith
Steven Paul “Elliott” Smith rose to fame with his song “Miss Misery.” It was part of the soundtrack of a film called Good Will Hunting, and it fetched Smith an Oscar nomination in the Best Original Song category. Like a lot of other, other people in this list of famous musicians who committed suicide, Smith too was suffering from depression and drug abuse. Subsequently, he died of self-inflicting stab wounds to his chest in 2003 and now appears in lists of famous musicians who committed suicide. His sixth studio album came out a year later.
