5. WeChat (889 Million Users)
Social media application WeChat lands at number five on our list with 889 million active users. It was developed by Tencent. The original version of the app was invented by Xiaolong Zhang and it was named by Ma Huateng. It was released in 2011. One thing which has not made WeChat very popular internationally despite such a high number of active users is the fact that it has not penetrated the international markets outside China. WeChat provides text messaging, video conferencing, voice messaging, video games, photo sharing, video sharing and location sharing to its users.
