A Guy Ritchie film, Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes and Jude Law as Watson, it’s easily one of the greatest Sherlock Holmes adaptations. Set in 1890, the film has been critically praised for its fun action sequences, acting and not to mention the story. It was even nominated at the Golden Globes and Academy Awards. It’s worth noting that Rachel McAdams plays the American femme fatale, Irene Adler. The film was followed by a sequel, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows that came out in 2011.
