3. Mawazine
Mawazine was first held in 2001 and was a huge success. As a result, it takes place every year in Morocco with hundreds and thousands of people visiting. King’s personal secretary presides over the festival and as you can imagine, its main purpose is to promote Morocco internationally, as a tolerant country. Mawazine has had its good share of controversies especially surrounding its funding and a deadly stampede back in 2009.
