3. Ittoqqortoormiit, Greenland
You’d think that it can’t get any remoter than Greenland right? Well, Ittoqqortoormiit or Illoqqortoormiut is one step ahead with a total population of 452 (as of 2013). The landscape is pretty harsh looking and comes with an array of wildlife that includes seals, polar bears as well as muskoxen. For anyone curious, the name in Eastern Greenlandic dialect means “Big-House Dwellers.” People in the remote town make their living by hunting whales and polar bears.
